Gulfport Goes Green takes a vacation until November!

We’d like to thank all of you that have come out and participated at Gulfport’s newest event, Gulfport Goes Green.  With the excitement of summer coming to a close the organizers of Gulfport Goes Green have decided to take some time to evaluate the how to bring more energy to upcoming Green Events.   Over the next several weeks we will be planning and organizing and putting together something even more wonderful before launching the newly updated Gulfport Goes Green in November!

Gulfport Goes Green takes a vacation until November!

See you then!

HerbalWise Teas now featured at Backfin Blue Cafe

Diners at Gulfport’s Backfin Blue restaurant can now enjoy, organic, herbal teas custom-blended by another local business — HerbalWise.  Backfin Blue plans to feature a different tea each month. This month’s featured tea is Lavender Herb Tea. Each individual tea bag is labeled with information about its health benefits.

Backfin Blue owner, Harold Russell came up with the idea after reading in an industry trade magazine about how other restaurants have featured related products.

Deserie Valloreo is the herbalist that owns and operates HerbalWise. She formulates and hand-blends herbs into healthy, tongue-pleasing beverages.  HerbalWise offers medicinal/herbal teas, custom herb formulas, herbal consultation, and herbal workshops on medicine-making, skincare, pet care, and making herbal products for massage. For more information visit www.HerbalWise.us.com or call or email 727-384-HERB (4372), info@herbalwise.us.com.

Backfin Blue offers casual dining, old-Florida charm and the always- great food (featuring the best backfin blue crab cakes south of the Chesapeake: simple and succulent). The Cafe is found inside a charming 1920’s cottage in the quaint Gulfport art district. Closed Tuesdays. 727-343-BLUE (2583)

Kayak Nature and the Tampa Green 100

Congratulations to one of our Green Merchants, Kurt Zuelsdorf .  Kayak Nature has been nominated for inclusion into Creative Loafing’s Tampa Green 100.  The voting opened today and Kurt can use your help climbing into and remaining in the top 5!

Vote Here!
www.cltampa.com/greenvote

Part Crocodile Hunter, part Crocodile Dundee, with a touch of environmentally motivated (and slightly ornery) character, Kurt is the champion of Clam Bayou and works hard to not only educate the public about wildlife and environment (Crocodile Hunter) but also acts as guide and colorful personality (Crocodile Dundee) to raise awareness of the bayou as a habitat.

You can read more information about Kurt on his site – http://kayaknature.com/about/

But most importantly vote for Kurt before the polls close on Tuesday, April 28. Repeat voting is possible every hour and is more fun that texting for American Idol!

Now on Flickr!

That’s right! Gulfport Goes Green has an account on Flickr!

Some of you may be asking what is Flickr? Flickr is an online photo sharing site that helps you organize that huge mass of photos you have and offers a way for you and your friends and family to tell stories about them.

So if you have an account on Flickr and have photos from previous Gulfport Goes Green Events Share them with the Gulfport Goes Green group and we’ll also include a selection of them on our site! (look across the bottom of the page)
